The school is located far away from civilization in Sto. Nino/Puerto Galera on the island of Mindoro at the edge of the jungle. We have been supporting the “School of Nations” with donations since 1997. The school is financed from the meager school fees and from donations. The low school fees collected and incoming donations are not enough to run the school and pay teacher wages. Therefore, they need our help. Often we forget how privileged we are and were we live, but we must not lose sight of the less privileged, the poor. Our donations, assist the poor people in the Philippines giving them a small respite, and allows them to share in a tiny view of our happiness.
The School of Nations aims to improve the lives of the poorest of the poor. A good education is the most important basis for a sustainable improvement of living conditions in the future. The children learn elementary skills, so that eventually, they can take their future into their own hands. These skills and knowledge will give them a good chance at a dignified existence in times to come.
The Philippines is currently experiencing an extreme heatwave. The otherwise green leaves on the trees are drying out and falling off, and the country is thirsty for water.
